The U.S. National Archives hold a very large collection of documents captured from the German armed forces near the end of the Second World War. Among that collection is a set of 198 photographs taken by a Wehrmacht Kriegsberichter (or Kriegsberichteren) during the opening stages of Operation BARBAROSSA. The Kriegsberichter was attached to the 15th Infantry Regiment, a part of 29th Infantry Division.
