Hi Tom, the last pic showing FLTR: Joachim Lemelsen, Hans Hecker, Walter von Boltenstern, and Wilhelm Henz
Alif, many thanks for your help with this.
My resources only permit me to give some very brief information about the two men you have identified.
Hans Hecker was awarded the Ritterkreuz on August 5, 1940 while an Oberstleutnant and the officer commanding Pionier Bataillon (mot.) 29, a unit that was part of the 29.Infanterie Division (mot.). Pionier Bataillon (mot.) 29, along with the rest of 29.Infanterie Division (mot.), was destroyed at Stalingrad in January, 1943. Oberstleutnant Hecker seems to have survived the war.
Hauptmann Hermann Henz, the other junior officer depicted in the photograph, was not so lucky as Oberstleutnant Hecker. When awarded the Ritterkreuz on August 8, 1941, Henz was a Leutnant and the commander of 2 Kompanie, Kradschuetzen Bataillon 29, another unit of 29.Infanterie Division (mot.). Henz had risen to the rank of Hauptmann and was the officer commanding Kradschuetzen Bataillon 29 when he was killed in action at Stalingrad on January 30, 1943.
